Oxyski is the coming together of two pioneering ski schools whose stories began on different slopes of the French Alps, yet were driven by the same conviction: to make skiing and snowboarding accessible, inspiring and unforgettable for all.

With roots reaching back to 1986 through Starski in Grand Bornand and to 1992 with Oxygène in La Plagne, we are very proud to be an independent, international ski and snowboard school present today across some of the most iconic resorts in the Alps. What unites us is a simple truth: the mountain is for everyone, and great teaching can change a holiday – or a life.

A SKI FAMILY THAT BECAME A COMMUNITY

Oxyski is proudly rooted in strong family traditions. A family-run French ski school with a twist. See here’s the thing: we love our clients. Way back in the late 80s early 90s, while the rest of you were singing to the Spice Girls and rocking the double denim, we set to work on building a ski school that caters for everyone. Young and old, big and small; French and international. More than 30 years later, we’ve lost the denim but kept the blue! With friendly staff and 300 ski instructors spread across 16 different resorts in the French Alps, we’re a ski school big enough to trust, yet small enough to care.

PROUD OF OUR STRONG FAMILY TRADITIONS

Oxygène was created by the de Monvallier brothers – Pierre, Julien and Bertrand – who built a ski school with a warm, personal approach and a genuine care for every guest. Over the decades, their passion expanded across the Tarentaise and beyond, bringing innovation in new disciplines, adaptive skiing, chalet-fitting services, Burton partnerships and new schools in resorts including Val d’Isère, Courchevel, Méribel, La Tania, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Megève and Tignes.

Starski was founded by ski instructors Rémi Lemaitre and Dominique Marie with a simple philosophy: don’t fit skiers into a box – create a new one for them! Their personalised, flexible teaching became a hallmark of the Grand Bornand experience. In 2016, Dominique’s sons, Jérémy and Jérôme, continued the family legacy, strengthening the school’s expertise in both instruction and operations.

In 2019, Starski joined the Oxygène group, building a shared future while keeping its local authenticity. Today, that union is one of the cornerstones of Oxyski.

GROWING WITH PURPOSE, RESORT BY RESORT

Over 30+ years, the Oxyski family has welcomed new instructors, new resorts and new ideas, always with the same belief that skiing should be inclusive, fun and adapted to each individual. Our timeline includes:

  • 1992–2000: Our beginnings in La Plagne, expansion to Val d’Isère and the introduction of adaptive skiing.

  • 2011–2017: The Burton Experience Centre, chalet-fitting innovation, and the integration of Magic in Motion across the 3 Valleys.

  • 2018–2022: Expansion into Megève, Grand Bornand (Starski), the Ubaye Valley, Tignes, Serre Chevalier and La Rosière.

  • 2024 and beyond: Opening of a 100% off-piste school in the Chamonix Valley with passionate local guides.

This growth has always been driven by our dedicated instructors, local experts and mountain lovers who bring their personality and passion to each lesson.
